February 12-16, 2016 - Buenos Aires, Argentina

I always love returning to my favorite city in South
America. I arrived late but after getting to my modern
apartment in Puerto Madero, I went for a light dinner. I have probably been here over a dozen times.
The next morning I had to buy some shoes, since I left all
mine at home. So much for my travelers checklist. I always thought things were
cheap in BA, but not so any more. But I eventually
found a pair I liked. I did quite a bit of
walking, from my apartment to the Casa Rosada and on to Florida Street.
The following day I met my friend Bill, who I have cruised
with before. We went to my favorite
steakhouse, Gran Parrilla del Plata. We
had the best meal for as long as I can remember. The steak melted in our mouths. We planed to return in two days for a repeat performance.
Every Sunday there is a street market in San Telmo. They have been selling the same "antique" seltzer bottles for as long as I can remember.
And of course a trip to Buenos Aires is not complete without a trip to my favorite train station - El Retiro.
I then joined the Silversea Silver Spirit. It felt good to be on my home away from
home. Many of the staff remembered me
from previous cruises.
We actually stayed in Buenos Aires for an extra day, giving
me the opportunity to have yet another amazing Argentine steak. Sailing out late that evening was an awesome
sight.
