May 10-19, 2017 – United Kingdom
I was able to get a $520 round trip to London.
I spent the first three nights with my near and dear friends Ann and Norman Shuker. Most of the trip was focused on food – Indian, Italian and Chinese. We went to my friend, Adam Johnson’s concert at St. Martin-in-the-Fields Church in Trafalgar Square. It was an enjoyable family concert featuring Peter and the Wolf. This was followed with dinner with Alex, Tamsin, Amber and Mark.
I then took the train to Liverpool for a few days.
On the first day I visited the Slavery Museum and the Maritime Museum. There was an amazing Titanic exhibit. The Lusitania exhibit was also interesting. I then took a ferry across the Mersey River. Now I need to get a copy of the song.
The Maritime Museum had a large exhibit about gays on ships.

The next day I went to the Beatles Story Exhibition. It was probably the best exhibition I’ve ever seen. It traced their lives from the formation of the band to after the group broke up. I then visited the Tate Liverpool Museum. Everything was just too abstract for me to enjoy.
I took the train to Manchester, but there wasn’t much to see there.
My favorite meal in the UK is crispy duck. I had it the last four nights I was there.
Picture of crispy duck downloaded from the internet.
